Fun With Pom Poms // Let's Make A Cupcake...

Can't bake to save yourself? Then THIS is a recipe for you! Make this little sweetie for a gift or something for the play kitchen for the kids. It's really simple and only takes a few ingredients.

Pom Pom Cupcake Recipe

You will need:

One medium to large Pom Pom
A small bowl
Scissors
Glitter
Cupcake patty cake
Hot glue gun
6 Mixed bright yarns (for the sprinkles)
Small yellow feather
Hard plastic straw

Method:

First step is to place a good amount of glue in the bottom of the patty case. Then place your pom-pom into the patty case on top of the glue, pressing down firmly.

Using your scissors take the 6 bright colour yarns, cut a 10cm length of each colour. Grab the bowl and hold the lengths of yarn together, close to the ends (in a bunch), snip the yarn ends to make your sprinkles (around 0.5cm in length). Add a good dash of glitter to the bowl with the wool sprinkles, mixing well. The pom-pom and glue should be secure and dry in the patty case, now it's time to decorate your 'cupcak…

Style & Shoot // At Home With Patchwork Cactus...

This beautiful and stylish space is 'home' for my friend Babs AKA Patchwork Cactus. When she asked me to pop over and take a few photographs of her happy home I was more than happy to oblige, after all she is always kind enough to let me utilise the space for my own photography when needed for my weaving or blog
However this space didn't always look this way. Babs and her partner have done a marvellous renovation on the place and if you'd love to see the 'Before and After' shots click here to see all....

Add Some Sparkle To That Boring Butter Cake...

Awesome weekend everyone? My weekends are pretty short around here only because Saturday is the day that I go off to work, so I don't have a lot of time to spare. This weekend we went off to Sydney to celebrate my baby brother turning 18, Yep! the grand old age of 18 (remember those days?!)
At his request I was asked to make a birthday cake, no worries but he's a bit of a "plain jane" and only likes 'butter cake'. So I gave it a little thought and put this little beauty together.
You will need:
2 x Butter cakes - Store bought or homemade. I went for homemade and just used a recipe with sour cream in it to help keep it moist. I made one Friday and the other Saturday night. Then put it altogether Sunday morning.
One tub of frosting - I used 'Betty Crocker ready-to-use Vanilla frosting'.(Remember I did say I was short on spare time!) Or you could make some butter cream.
