Christmas Traditions To Have With The Kids...

Now that I have kids of my own they have really made me enjoy Christmas time just that little bit more.
My Alba is four years old and this Christmas season has been the best by far when it comes to 'The Magic' of Christmas. I mean last year was good, but she was still just that bit too little to really get into everything. This year we will be at home for Christmas morning too and with Alba really getting into the spirit of the season it made me think that I should start thinking more about starting some Christmas traditions for the kids (and us adults).
So if you have kids, and they are sitting next to you reading this I would stop them now....

WARNING BELOW IS NOT FOR CHILDREN TO READ!
Ok now we are alone.....
Here are my Christmas Traditions that I will be doing from this year on.
Send A Letter To Santa - Alba sent off her letter, complete with a beautiful illustration and in-depth instructions as to just which bike she would love under the Christmas Tree. We posted her Santa …

Wordless Wednesday..... A Visit To Grandma's Shop.....

Shop also known as "Greta's Handcraft Centre"

This takes me back to when I was a kid and my Pop owned a caravan park over near North Ryde (think it might be the tip now!). Funny the little memories we hold on to from childhood. Only things I can really remember are... the boom gates, the entrance shop where he would give us lollies and the time he gave me a soft toy gorilla from his shop. I'll always remember how much fun it was too.
Anyways... Thanks for letting us pop in mum! The kids had a blast and I think they pretty much touched everything not nailed down. Something tells me we won't be allowed back for a little while haha.
Did anyone in your family own a shop when you where a kid?

How to make Pineapple and Mango Jam....

Seriously! Have you ever tried Pineapple Jam or better yet, Pineapple and Mango Jam? I hope I'm not the only one who hadn't, because my gosh, it is crazy good!
I've been staring at about 8 empty jam jars in my cupboard that I have managed to collect over some time. I've always imagined that making jam would be such a hard, complicated thing to do. Turns out, it's SO easy! So with my obsession for pineapple and mango at the moment, I decided I would try and make some sweet tasting jam.
Now this recipe comes with a WARNING ...
Do NOT make this jam with your little ones around! Why? Well, because all you will hear is "Mum can I have some?, Mum can I have some?" over and over! Hahaha even the one year old was standing at my feet saying "Ta, Ta, Ta"!

So here's what you're going to need for......

PINEAPPLE AND MANGO JAM
1 Fresh Pineapple 2 Mangoes 2 Limes (Or 1/4 cup lemon juice from a bottle) 2 Cups Jam Sugar (you could probably just use Caster Su…

Pom Pom Christmas Stocking....

With Christmas around the corner I thought I would get cracking with some craft last week. Remembering I had a few random balls of wool in a bag and this funky little pom-pom making device, I decided I would jazz up some Christmas stockings for the kids. I wanted them to be relatively easy, quick, bright and not break my bank account. So the kids and I hit the local craft shop and this is what I came up with. I'm so pleased with how they turned out.

The longest part of the process is making the pom-poms. But using this little guy below, I was able to get them all done in two nights after the kiddies had gone to bed. If you have older kids than mine, they could probably make these stockings by themselves (you might just have to help with the gluing).

You can purchase this pom-pom maker from Vivienne at Greta's Handcraft (aka my mum's wool shop) and get your wool supply there too. Greta's Handcraft is also on facebook
To make these stockings this is what you'll need…

Instagram Photo Challenge...

Lately I've been given a few Instagram photo challenges or tagged in, like the #blackandwhitechallenge. This was a five day challenge to take a photo each day but it had to be in B&W. Another is #widn (what I'm doing now?), don't think I need to explain that one.

Anyway when I started my blog and started up an Instagram account I posted a photo with the heading 'Moments Through Their Eyes'. A little challenge I thought I would put out there, mainly for myself. It was with the idea of starting  to take more photos from my kids' perspective rather than from mine all the time. I try and capture little moments, through their eyes, mostly because I'm so curious as to how their little minds work, how they see and interpret the world. It's actually harder than you think, to get a great photo, at the right moment, and not just photograph the back of their head....haha!
So, I put the challenge to you. Give it a go! Tag me so I can see, use the hashtag #momen…

Handmade Crafty Wedding Gifts...

We are off to a Wedding at the end of the month, and I am pretty excited. Love a good Wedding! A chance to get dolled up. Hair, make up, nails....you know all the girly stuff. It's also wonderful to be invited to share in something that is so magical in someone else's life, to feel the love and happiness that they share.  But sometimes it's rather hard to find the perfect gift to suit the couple. These days a lot of couples don't want a gift so much, as they would like a little bit of cash instead. To either help with a honeymoon, a new house, or even just to help pay for some of the wedding. And hey!, that's cool with me (I believe I did that myself!). Even so, I still like to give a little personal gift to go along with a cash pressie.
Being a lover of handmade, crafty items (check out my DIY Envelopes), I buy local whenever I can. I've been searching the internet this last week and have put together below a list of some beautiful, in-expensive gifts that you …

At Home - Baking Up A Frozen Storm

Wow what a week!!! Lots of baking and cake decorating around the place last week. With our 'Little lady' turning the big FOUR. We had to make cupcakes AND a cake. They all had to be the Disney FROZEN theme (of course, what else! right?). Alba is a mad fan, as most kids her age are. I seriously don't remember there being such a big Disney film like this when I was a kid, but then again I wasn't the Princess type (total tomboy I was).
Anyways I thought I would just share some pictures of our baking week and a little run down on the cake.

If you're inspired by this cake for your little one's birthday, it's pretty easy if you have made a cake or two before. I mean I've never done a cake decorating class, I've just been making cakes for my kids and their cousins.
I used this recipe for the cake White Chocolate Mud Cake. This is a fantastic website, they give you step by step recipe instructions + pictures as you go. Makes it so much easier to follow. This …
